Olympic Development Program (ODP)

The Olympic Development Program serves as a forum to identify and develop athletes to represent USA Water Polo throughout domestic and international competition. The foundation of the program is a systematic approach to athlete development through a training program that focuses on both the technical and tactical components of water polo while placing a premium on overall physical fitness. This program will also provide a forum where coaches and referees are provided with professional development and to the vision of our Men and Women’s Senior National Team coaches.

The Southwest Zone is one of 11 regions that USA Water Polo has designated and is comprised of athletes from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Three age-defined teams of boys and girls will be selected from those who attend the training camps held in the fall.

In the winter, selected zone athletes will represent the SWZ by travelling to Western Regionals for further evaluation. Finally, in the spring,  selected team members will travel to California to take part in the ODP National Championships, pitting them against squads from all the other zones.

Please check the USA Water Polo ODP page for more information.
